$360.00

This class is designed to give you a solid introduction into weaving your first willow basket. You will learn to weave a round base, several weaving patterns to build the walls of your basket, and a border to finish it. Students will go home with a completed basket and possibly some extra bases to weave baskets at home. Students will also learn about gathering, processing, storing and preparing willow for weaving.

PREREQUISITE: Intro to Basket Weaving - Make a Tension Tray! All participants must have already completed the tension tray class with Gelsey, either this year or in prior years. If you haven’t completed the tension tray class but still want to attend, we will evaluate on a case-by-case basis dependent on your previous willow weaving experience.

Basket-making remains one of the quintessential human crafts, practiced by cultures around the world. Instructor Gelsomina Malferrari will guide participants in weaving a willow basket.
