Basket-making remains one of the quintessential human crafts, practiced by cultures around the world. Instructor Gelsomina Malferrari will guide participants in weaving wild willow into tension trays—a beautiful addition to your kitchen and perfect for holding muffins and cookies right out of the oven! In addition to weaving tension trays, we will learn about gathering, processing, storing and preparing willow for weaving. (If there is interest, an advanced basket weaving class could follow later in the year). Children ages 14 and up are welcome to attend if they are able to be focused on this workshop on their own. Children younger than age 14 must attend ALONG WITH their parent/guardian and must be supervised by their adult for the entire workshop. In the case of a parent and child under age 14, they will work together to make one tension tray (and only the parent needs to purchase a ticket).
