NOTE: This class is REQUIRED if you wish to take the Willow Packbasket class this year.

This course is designed to follow the Foundations of Willow Basketry class. Students will practice their foundational weaving skills, try new weaving patterns, and gain more experience while shaping their dream basket. Students will also learn to add integral handles to their medium sized baskets, so they are easier to carry. These baskets can be used as laundry baskets, harvest baskets, toy baskets…so many options!.

PREREQUISITE: Students are asked to have completed Foundations of Willow Basketry with Gelsey either this year or in previous years. If you haven’t yet taken the Foundations of Willow Basketry class, you can register here, or email us to get on the waitlist.

Instructor, Gelsomina Malferrari

Co-founder of Laughing Coyote, Gelsomina Malferrari comes from a family of artisans, and her ability to craft beautiful objects comes from a lifetime of creating. Raised in a bilingual family, the strong family ties of her Italian heritage continue to be important. Gelsomina is passionate about fiber, making baskets, spinning, weaving, felting. Gardening, foraging and preserving fill her time in the green months.
