Join us for a fun evening learning about this incredible bird of prey from owl expert Scott Rashid.
Bring your binoculars....you might get to peek at the growing owlets starting to fledge in our tree! You are welcome to bring your dinner as well if you’d like to eat while you listen.
Learn about the natural history of the Great Horned Owl, including nesting habits, food preferences, courtship activities, vocalizations, egg-laying, incubation timing, feeding habits, as well as fledging and post-fledging activities. Scott will also share how he rehabilitates injured owls.
In 2014, Scott Rashid created the Colorado Avian Research and Rehabilitation Institute, or CARRI, in Estes Park. Members of the nonprofit rehabilitate injured birds found in and around Estes Park and research birds in and around RMNP, Estes Park and the Front Range of Colorado.
Scott has written several books: Small Mountain Owls, Northern Saw-Whet, The Great Horned Owl (An In-depth Study),Northern Goshawk (The Gray Ghost), and Exploring the World of the Barn Owl. He's also an amazing watercolor artist!
